The Port of Victoria Announces Plans for New Regional Logistics Hub the Texas Logistics Center
15 Mar 2022
The Victoria County Navigation District is pleased to announce the Texas Logistics Center at the Port of Victoria (TXLC). Strategically positioned in a Foreign Trade Zone and a Texas Enterprise Zone, TXLC is designed as a regional logistics hub and is centrally located two hours from Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. With access to rail, water, and highway transportation, proximity to the Victoria Regional Airport, and over 2,000 acres currently available for development, TXLC provides unmatched business and industry opportunities in Texas.
The Texas Logistics Center is attached to the 35-mile Victoria Barge Canal, which leads to the Gulf of Mexico and is on the M-69 Marine Highway, connecting to all ports along the Texas coast. With operating dimensions of 12 feet deep by 125 feet wide, a general cargo dock of over 150,000 square feet, and a lighting system that allows for 24/7 cargo operations, TXLC can accommodate multiple commodities.
In addition to its impressive water access, TXLC has over 3 miles of road infrastructure and sits along a 4-lane divided highway within 8 miles of US Highway 59 and the future I69 corridor. Its location will allow efficient truck operations to and from major metropolitan areas, ports, and Mexico.
To become a world-class intermodal facility, TXLC and the Port of Victoria (POV) will initiate a multi-phase rail expansion project. Phase 1 will see the addition of over 42,000 feet of track, which includes the build-out of three 10,000-foot drop and pull tracks. Later phases will consist of storage tracks, transloading operations, and connections to new tenants, and upon completion, TXLC will be served by Union Pacific and BNSF railroads.
Logistics aside, Victoria’s business-friendly attitude and growth mindset make it an ideal business location where community partnerships can thrive. Committed to advancement and opportunity, our educational institutions offer a variety of degree options, industrial trades programs, continuing education, and employee training. Additionally, Victoria’s local leadership is dedicated to a community-minded approach to economic development, as showcased in a Memorandum of Understanding between the port, city, county, airport, and sales tax development corporation signed in 2021. The Port of Victoria and the Victoria Economic Development Corporation are eager to assist new businesses looking to take advantage of our tremendous infrastructure.
The Texas Logistics Center at the Port of Victoria makes for an industry trifecta with its scalable site selection, multimodal capabilities, and community support. We are excited about the potential this center offers our current and future customers, as well as Victoria County residents.
