Exciting news for the Port of Victoria! First Ammonia is planning to create one of the world's first commercial-scale green ammonia production facilities using renewable solar and wind power. This project will not only create jobs but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A lease agreement entered into between Victoria County Navigation District and Vitis Energy will see the coming up of the Portside Energy Center very soon. If the project comes to fruition, the Energy Center will have 40 megawatts of clean energy generation and 80-megawatt hours of storage capacity through onsite solar panels and batteries. The total buildout of this project is expected to be 90 million and would bring 150 to 100 temporary construction jobs to the region.
